World Eczema Day: The Cost of Calm

Parenting requires sacrifice — but parenting a child with eczema requires sacrifices you never expected. It’s not just paying for skincare products that may or may not work: it’s also the “invisible” costs.

Nights of sleep spent awake.
Hours spent in waiting rooms.
Moving homes — or maybe even cities.
Changing your work schedule.
Not having another child.

We surveyed 366 caregivers and asked:
How does eczema affect major life decisions for your family?

Celebrating families’ resilience on
World Eczema Day

While the direct impact of eczema is visible on the skin, children and families impacted by eczema often bond more over the invisible hardships – like late nights spent tossing and turning, endless doctor visits, and costly skincare regimens with no guarantees of success.

90% of eczema caregivers that we surveyed reported that eczema influenced at least one of their major life decisions.

From money to moving to marriage, eczema impacts every aspect of life for the families that are living with it every single day. During the month of September and on World Atopic Eczema Day (September 14th), we’re highlighting the resilience and dedication of the eczema community.
